Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important representative stated the incident left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
